Professional translator with government and private experience

I am a native French speaker with a strong English background. I have Civil Engineering degree which I obtained in Ghana (an English-speaking country) and obtained my baccalaureate in Togo (a French speaking country). I have experience in translating any technical or scientific document with ease and accuracy. I am a dynamic and dedicated person, always ready to provide you with great work.

Additionally to the classes about electro-technics, fabrication processes in the automobile industry and nanotechnologies I took while I was studying conference interpreting at the University of Saarland, I have work experience as in-house translator in a technical translation agency and an e-commerce company that offers a wide variety of professional products - from deep fryers and refrigerators to tools and massage tables. Furthermore, I am very interested in renewable energies, environment protection, electric vehicles, food and drinks, and video games. Up to now, I have mostly translated product description, CRM messages, marketing content and user's manuals. I believe that a good translation is easy to read and feels natural in the target language.

From 1990 to 2003, I worked mainly as programmer, using various languages such as Fortran, Pascal, C, Visual Basic, SQL, Javascript and Perl and as system administrator, setting computers and networks and familiar with UNIX, and most of Windows OS and Mac OS versions. - From 2001 to 2010, I worked as French translator in an in-house translation department, translating over 7 millions words. This included company literature, magazines, services brochures, finance manuals, computers manuals, Web sites, voice over scripts and subtitles. - From 2011 to 2015, I became a Translation System Manager, implementing the SDL WorldServer solution in my department, setting up the software including workflows and filters, writing training material for the translators and translation manager and getting the system in used. I am a graduate of the Parisian school ISIT (Institute of Intercultural Management and Communication). Most of my experience has been with journalistic and administrative associations. I already had to carry out translations while respecting strict deadlines. For example, I assisted a group of translators in translating and proofreading newsletters and articles from French into English and from English into French, the deadlines for the newsletters being the same. Similarly, I have worked as a freelance translator and have proven capable of dealing quickly with orders with short deadlines occurring during evenings or week-ends. My most recent job as a data entry contributor has taught me to look quickly and efficiently for specific information and to determine by myself how valid a given source is. It has also taught me how to work as part of a team through a decentralised working environment where all communications are done through emails or business chats.

I'm a French native speaker from Brussels, Belgium (born in 1981). I live in the US since 1994 and I'm working as a Translator/Proofreader -French (France and Belgium), English (UK/US), Spanish (Spain/Latin America/US), some Italian to English (2007-present) and French, and Consecutive Interpreter - French, English, Spanish (2009-present) - currently in NY. For certain advanced/expert translation, I'm more comfortable translating into English. I've always had a passion for languages! Born in France, I grew up speaking French and learning English and German in school from an early age. I also touched on Italian, Spanish and Greek. But ultimately, my career led me to focus on English. I left France at the age of 30, stayed for 2 years in the USA, and have now been living in Canada since 2015. My background is scientific: I have several degrees in the biomedical and life sciences fields, including a Ph.D. in Biotechnology. I have over 10 years of experience in healthcare and research. During that time, I also offered translation services in my field as a secondary part-time activity. As of 2020, I am now a full-time translator English-to-French and French-to-English. My main interests remain in the medical/health sciences field, but I am also interested in a variety of other subjects that are not necessarily science related. I'm a 29 years old French girl who first worked in Education, then decided to change and study Tourism. After 2 years as a Tour Guide in Portugal, working daily in English, French and basic Portuguese, I'm back in France. Currently working full time as a tour guide in a famous Champagne house, using English and French on a daily bases.
