I am a freelance translator and writer born and raised in the mystical woods of northern Austria, now living in the great Anglo-Bavarian language love triangle between Salzburg, Munich and Melbourne, on a constant coffee high. Bouncing between cultures since my teens has fine-tuned my linguistic senses to the beautiful nuances of English and nurtured my nerd love for the impossibilities of German. I love what I do. I have done a lot of proofreading and some translations EN->DE for a good friend of mine, who is a professional translator. Here in Smartcat and on Memsource.

I grew up in Germany and have visited my huge American family in the US State Ohio every year for a month, give or take. I have been fluent in English since 1989. I have worked for a medical device producer for over a total of 3 years, translating regulations and processes required by the ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820. I have spent a month going over the new MDSAP guideline. I studied the subjects German and English to teach it at the Gymnasium, which is the equivalent to an academic high school. I will go back to teaching in February, but since I miss working with languages in a more direct way, I want to keep translating different projects. I am also a major modern literature fan and would not mind translating (short) stories, either.

Growing up in Germany with a bilingual background, I fulfilled my dream at the age of 18 and moved to Szekszárd, where I started working as a volunteer in a kindergarten. After acquiring some basic knowledge of Hungarian, I decided to study early childhood education with a bilingual focus in Hungarian. After working in my profession and after my two older children were born, I started translating for MOZAIK, an internationally recognized publisher of school materials. After acquiring basic translation skills, I passed the state-approved Hungarian and German translation exam at ELTE University in Budapest in 2015. Since then, I have been working full-time as a freelance translator and proofreader. My main areas of expertise in translation and proofreading are marketing, catering, art and culture, especially music and literature, but also theatre and film (subtitling also), tourism, management, law, education, PR, humanities, politics.
