I am Giovanni Santonastaso, at the moment based in South Italy. I am an interpreter and a translator and I can speak Italian, English, Chinese and French. I am a professional translator. Before and during my academic career I have worked as a freelancer, performing on specialized texts such as user manual guides, scientific abstracts, patents, technical data sheets, popular science articles, and business contracts. I am able to translate other literary genres, also less formal like novels, newspaper and fashion articles, and literary works in general with a certain degree of proficiency at using CAT tools like SmartCat, OmegaT, Wordfast Anywhere, SDL Trados, MateCat. My linguistic combinations are: IT>EN/EN>IT, IT>DE/DE>IT. I am very flexible in terms of working hours and workload because I am prepared to work late and also on weekends in case of urgent projects. I am Romanian and Italian and I have studied English and Spanish at the University oy Pisa and University of Bologna. I have also lived, studied and worked abroad in 2009-2010 in Valencia with the Erasmus Programme at the University of Valencia.

I am a PhD candidate at Koç University, Istanbul, at the faculty of Archaeology and History of Art. I have studied English for almost 20 years, I wrote my master thesis in English and my current PhD program is fully taught in English. I have translated a large amount of material from English to Italian, from Italian to English and from Turkish to English in the past years. In 2017 I got the TOEFL certificate with a score of 104/120. I write academic researches and texts in English on a weekly base, using materials written in various languages. I have direct experience of how important getting a good translation is and I am ready to help this happen for the people who need.

I have been working as translator since the graduation from University for foreign languages where I studied English, Italian and German language. My work as interpreter and translator is based on work in retail, marketing, law firm, NGO on protection for human rights. In different areas of my work I gained expertise in different sectors such as economics, finance, law and marketing. However, other areas of work are more than familiar to me.
