I started working as a translator in 2015 after having completed my M.A. Degree in Literary and Audiovisual Translation at the Univeritat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. I have translated more than 15 books and have worked with different agencies, companies and publishing house from Poland, Spain (where I have been living since 2009) and from other parts of the world.

I started my adventure with languages when I was 16 years old. Learning new vocabulary and translating the texts (mostly about entertainment, photography, news, games, or travel) became my favorite thing to do. Right now, after more than ten years, I still feel very passionate about languages, and I am improving my skills and learning additionally French, Spanish, Japanese, or Korean.

My name's Joanna Taras. I've been an English teacher for more than 10 years and a freelance translator for over 4 - although it goes further than that, as I've always been passionate about the language – reading, translating, and improving my skills. I have been dealing with several different professions so far. At the beginning I worked as a teacher at Primary School. Then I worked for a company in whcih I was responsible for hte following issues: - -Making payrolls. - entering invoices in the books, - drawing up and sending documents and e-documents to governmental offices, - translations (written and oral) and interpreting (during business meetings). Year later I began to work for my present job where I mainly have similar duties as in my previous job but, apart from them, I had to master some more: - maintaining good business relations with current business partners, - accepting and fulfiling purchase orders, - coordinating the whole process from the order to the shipment of a given product, - coordinating shipments, - finding new business partners worldwide, - keeping export documents, - participation in international trade fairs.

I have a PhD in applied linguistics and two M.A. diplomas: in English and in Spanish philology. I work in a team of two professional, Polish, freelance, sworn translators with more than 15 years of translation practice each of us. My fortes include the following fields: law, contracts, notarial deeds, accountancy, real estate, banking, legal regulations, legal opinions, IT, user manuals for household appliances, high-tech devices and industrial machinery.
