Originally from Almaty, Kazakhstan (Russian speaking), I have lived in the United States since 1996. I graduated high school in Midland, Texas, then received my first bachelors degree from Central Texas College, majoring in Computer Science. After several years, I went back to school to major in International Studies at the University of California in San Diego. Passionate for languages and cultural learning, I have lived and studied in Morelia, Mexico and Barcelona, Spain. I have worked as a freelance translator and localization expert since 2009 and have great knowledge in mobile game and app localization. My translation career encompasses diverse areas, from movie industry (translating for Hollywood film stars (Jon Voight, Sammi Davis) to translating for roughnecks on drilling rigs in Siberia. I first started my translation career in mid 1980-ies with a few odd translation / interpretation jobs of a few months each. I then went on to work as a staff translator for the first Soviet-US JV White Nights in 1990 and continued to pursue this career with several other JVs and US companies until 2006, when I became a full-time freelance translator. Besides working as a translator during that period, I also held several other positions in procurement, logistics and administration at these companies, which subsequently proved to be a valuable source of knowledge for my work as an independent translator after 2006.
