Professional translator

As a Philosophy student I focused in the field of Linguistics, which during college I combined with my passion for learning foreign languages: French and Russian, as well as perfecting my English. My interest in language and logic has led me to specialize also in modern fields such as software development translations, gaming localization, AI input/output editing, etc. After college I started learning Arabic language, also combined with my job as an editorial coordinator for institutionalized magazines belonging to professionals' associations of engineers and industrial chambers.

I am a freelance translator since 2009 and a Medical Doctor since 1982. I built my professional career at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana at Bogota, Colombia and I specialized in Health Management at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano also at Bogota. I was raised and lived in the United States territory during primary school through the first semester of college. I directed the health area of a medical second opinion company. One of my duties was to gather and translate medical records (including test and imaging reports). Then, I had to translate them from Spanish to English and send them to an interdisciplinary group of expert, specialized doctors, in the United States. Then, when the experts delivered their assessment reports and management suggestions I translated them from English to Spanish. This report included some articles published in medical journals that supported the reports. As the company grew, we hired other translators, and I added to my responsibilities the proofreading of their translations. As well as my experience in health, I have worked as a freelance translator for several companies; during the last four months, I have translated more than 400,000 words. Among my clients are The Language Doctors, Latitude Prime, Jorge Vargas, Lingosphere, Flix Translations and others. I am now retired from clinical activities and have decided to commit my work time to translating in a timely fashion, with good precision and quality. After working for several NGOs in Latin America, he has worked for OxfamNovib in Central America, with El Taller’s education programme in Tunis, director of Citizen Diplomacy and CEO of Nexus in Colombia. Since 1999 he worked with Oxfam GB, first as country director for Colombia and as policy adviser in the Economic Justice team based in Oxford until 2014. He has lead the Regional and National campaigns for the GROW team in Oxfam International, and in 2014 he was the Director of Intermon's national programme in Bolivia. He is currently based in Colombia as an independent consultant. Constantino is active in the field of agro-ecology with campesinos and indigenous peoples in Latin America and the Caribbean.

I have 31 years of experience teaching and tutoring all levels of Spanish. With a Master's Degree in the Spanish Language and Literature from Middlebury College, VT, I consider myself to be a grammar expert, in addition to being fluent in the language. I had study abroad experiences in Mexico prior to living in Madrid during graduate school. In 2010 I spent the Winter-Spring semester traveling throughout Argentina and homeschooling my then 3rd grade son and 7th grade daughter. Also in 2010, I began a summer language immersion program, True Immersion, LLC, in Sevilla, Spain for American teens - which continues today. I am highly proficient in Italian - primarily self-taught - but have also studied at the Lorenzo de Medici and Centro Firenze language schools in Florence over the last 14 years. I'm a certified bilingual, I studied english lenguage for 2 years in the Venezuelan American institud of Zulia (CEVAZ) here in my country, also I worked there as english teacher for almost 4 years, after getting my certification in english lenguage I'm from Venezuela, recently graduated in electronic engineer, and currently finishing the CCNA 4 of Cisco academy I've experience doing a wide range of translation work, starting from legal and technical translation, as well as general translation mostly.
