I am an English philologist whose biggest passions are languages and literature. My fields of expertise go from world's literatures to linguistics and language acquisition. Besides, I've furthered my expertise with an MA in Spanish as foreing language. I love learning about different cultures and traditions and trying to comprehend them so I can do better translations. Furthermore, as I love reading, I think that the best way to grasp an author's work is being able to read it in its own language. I was born and raised in Guatemala, where I attended an American school learning English as a Native rather than as a second language. I have spent the last 20+ years living in Mexico working as an interpreter and translator for American companies such as Jockey Intl. and Skyline Builders and then I worked with the Real Estate and Tourism Industry at the Riviera Maya for more than 5 years, where I wrote and translated web content, newsletters, rental and sales agreements, contracts and “fideicomisos”. For the last three years I have been translating books, scripts, stories and novels for renowned American, British and Canadian authors. I have a degree in Translation (English to Spanish and Spanish to English) and Editing in Spanish (Corrección de Textos) I also have a degree in Biochemistry.

I grew up speaking Spanish at home and English at school, learning to have full command of either language from a young age. With a background teaching English as a second and foreign language to Spanish and Japanese native speakers, I can take complex ideas and translate them without losing the meaning or concept behind the words and grasp the nuances of the language. I've had the opportunity to do live translations, both En > Es and Es > En. While working at an English school, I also had the chance to translate technical documents and manuals from English to Spanish for a large manufacturing company in the automobile industry.

Graduated in Human Resources Management, the major contribution of my career to my current profession was the elaboration of reports and research projects. Since 2010 I worked as a research methodology consultant. In 2015 I started working as a web copywriter and editor of texts in Spanish, using this knowledge to increase my level of English and to improve the results achieved in my works translated from English to Spanish. I have 31 years of experience teaching and tutoring all levels of Spanish. With a Master's Degree in the Spanish Language and Literature from Middlebury College, VT, I consider myself to be a grammar expert, in addition to being fluent in the language. I had study abroad experiences in Mexico prior to living in Madrid during graduate school. In 2010 I spent the Winter-Spring semester traveling throughout Argentina and homeschooling my then 3rd grade son and 7th grade daughter. Also in 2010, I began a summer language immersion program, True Immersion, LLC, in Sevilla, Spain for American teens - which continues today. I am highly proficient in Italian - primarily self-taught - but have also studied at the Lorenzo de Medici and Centro Firenze language schools in Florence over the last 14 years.
