I've been freelance translating while completing my bachelors in Comparative Literature, alongside working on my own translation projects. I have a decent amount of experience translating poetry and other literary sources, which I believe have given me a lot of tools to translate any kind of text -- including marketing, scientific, and so forth. A brief bio: I was born in Belgium and moved to the United States when I was young, hence I was thrown early on into different languages. Today, I speak/read/write in English, Dutch/Flemish, German, French, and Italian. The exchange of information and ideas across linguistic and geographic borders greatly interests me, which is why, I believe, I enjoy translating texts so much. I have a M.A. degree in Russian language, literature and linguistics from the University of Arizona, and my translations are read by undergraduate university students across the United States in the pages of _The Russia Reader_ (Duke University Press, 2010). I have also completed three years of German-language study at the University of Arizona. I worked extensively for over four years on the Russian 2014 Winter Olympics Project by translating a variety of documents, ranging from press releases and brochures to technical construction diagrams of the Olympic facilities. If you watched any of the English-language broadcasts of the Opening Ceremony on February 7, 2014, then you would have heard some of my translations of the speeches of officials as read by the TV commentators. I have also contributed translations of marketing materials that advance the business goals of major companies active in both Russia and Germany. For example, last fall I translated the annual report of a major Russia-based steel producer targeted at investors. I've been in translations/linguistics since 1997, millions of words, vast experience, a great lot of fields, I've worked for Google, Airbnb, governments (local and states), just name it. I'm fond of languages. I can speak English (of course), French, Russian, some German, Norwegian, Chinese and even Ukrainian. I've studied Icelandic and am familiar with Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Faroese.
