I've been in translations/linguistics since 1997, millions of words, vast experience, a great lot of fields, I've worked for Google, Airbnb, governments (local and states), just name it. I'm fond of languages. I can speak English (of course), French, Russian, some German, Norwegian, Chinese and even Ukrainian. I've studied Icelandic and am familiar with Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Faroese. Localization/CAT tools: starting from routine tasks such as bilingual files prep and post-processing and ending with deployment of custom-tailored translation memory servers using SVN or GIT technologies. Briefly, I love everything related to languages.

I have a M.A. degree in Russian language, literature and linguistics from the University of Arizona, and my translations are read by undergraduate university students across the United States in the pages of _The Russia Reader_ (Duke University Press, 2010). I have also completed three years of German-language study at the University of Arizona. I worked extensively for over four years on the Russian 2014 Winter Olympics Project by translating a variety of documents, ranging from press releases and brochures to technical construction diagrams of the Olympic facilities. If you watched any of the English-language broadcasts of the Opening Ceremony on February 7, 2014, then you would have heard some of my translations of the speeches of officials as read by the TV commentators. I have also contributed translations of marketing materials that advance the business goals of major companies active in both Russia and Germany. For example, last fall I translated the annual report of a major Russia-based steel producer targeted at investors. I have also recently translated the clothing catalog of a German manufacturer of music merchandise. Let me help you tackle your next translation or proofreading project. Using my cultural knowledge and academic training, I can help you avoid embarrassing mistranslations that can be hard to avoid when dealing with texts not just written in another language, but produced by a different culture. My home office computer equipment includes two laptop computers (a Mac and a PC, allowing me to run a variety of CAT software, including SDL Trados Studio 2014). I perform daily backups, and I have high-speed Internet access. With each freelance project I undertake, I guarantee high quality work delivered on or before the deadline and prompt responses to your phone calls and e-mails.

My name’s Fiona Gray and I’m the Director of Grayscale Translations Limited. I’m a Qualified Member (MITI) of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting with eight years of experience and over three million words of German to English translation and proofreading under my belt. Your company is the cream of the crop. Your brand? The bee’s knees. Your products, your services – just wow. You know it. I know it. How about we let the rest of the world know it? But before we can shout it from the rooftops, it needs to be in a language your ideal customers are going to understand. How?! I hear you cry. Don’t worry, I’ve got it all under control. And you just need to head over to grayscaletranslations.co.uk, send me an email or give me a call to find out what I have in mind...
